It's been a while since I last wrote on this blog. I took a vacation from it as my February challenge has really pushed the limit of my creativity and willingness to post.
I can proudly say: it's 12 days I don't eat meat.
No beef, fish or chicken, just vegetables and I must say ... cheese. God bless cheese as without it I would have already failed my 30 days challenge.
Being a vegetarian is not that difficult after all, I don't really miss meat rather the feeling it gives you after eating it: I used to feel more full and don't feel hungry for quite a while. Right now instead I am hungry again after about 2 hours and I eat more snacks during the afternoon... luckily I eat healthy snacks like fruit, yogurt or occasionally popcorn (no salt). Up until now the most difficult thing has been the social aspect of this challenge: the surprised face people make when I tell them I don't eat meat. I think this is the most disturbing thing of the whole experience and most likely the biggest learning I'll get from the experiment.
When you're part of a minority, even as simple as the vegetarian one, you'll always feel somewhat rejected or mocked by those who don't share your same habits and cannot really see the reason why you took certain life choices. I have never been part of any minority, so this is of immense value to me.
Veggies, I do see your point now.
