Best costume parties ideas

I love costume parties, don't you also?

This thing I have with themed and costume parties can be defined as an obsession but ultimately it's perfectly natural, provided I never made it to take part in the cool costume parties the popular people used to organize in high-school that is causing my late over-compensation. To this purpose I'd like to list the themes I think would make a great costume party.

Famous couples
A true classic of costume parties where you can dress up as either a famous fictional couple like Pierre and Natasha, or also a real one like Tom Cruse and Katie Holmes. The first time I saw how great a famous couple party would look like was within "Never Been Kissed" where the theme was chosen for the final prom.

Favourite Anime
Here's another geeky awesome theme. I always fancied dressing up like one of my favourite animes, those I used to watch when I was a kid. My favourites? Here's a slideshow:

Rockstars
Ever fancied to be Lady Gaga or Cindy Lauper for one night. In this party you can and maybe you can turn it to a karaoke party... who knows.

20s to 90s
Ages of fashion costume parties are always a good theme. The 20s require some fancy feathers when the 90s look for over-sized t-shirts and looks Beverly Hills 90210 inspired. Oh, look at those jeans :P

National Stereotypes
Careful not to hurt entire population's feeling but playing on national stereotypes or folklore can be a nice way of setting a colorful party.

Home appliances
Fridges, irons, boxes and kettles. You definitely need quite a large space to host such kind of human sized appliances but the sound and mood of this party would definitely be... useful!
