This morning I woke up with a suspicious pain. A muscle pain in ... the butt. Yes, you read alright. Butt.
For the latest Christmas party I got a great pair of black shiny shoes, with something like an 8cm heel. My dress and whole outfit were screaming for pair of shoes like that so I bought them and decided I would avoid looking like the average drunken Irish girl you see on the streets on Saturday night: unstable and ridiculous. A month before the party I started wearing the shoes at home to build up confidence and despite the first days were horrific (I risked to fall and break my neck several times) I managed to not look ridiculous at the party. Epic win. Yesterday I put those shoes back on because I figured I shouldn't waste the confidence I gained, but I would have never figured that one hour of walking and hoovering in the house would cause me any pain. Some of you might think I am not that fit if I happen suffer from muscle pain after a small work out like that, but even if I am not a gymnast I swim 3 times a week, each time for about 1.6 km and I don't think I am in such a bad physical state.
That was the kind of pain you get after a workout, but yesterday I didn't do any exercise, I simply cleaned my apartment, made a tiramisù for 12, skipped swimming and also studied sitting at my desk. I shared this concern with one of my colleagues but attributing the cause of this pain only to the cleaning wasn't enough. Who gets muscle pain after cleaning their apartment? Nobody.
So why was I feeling that pain?
The mistery was serendipitously solved while I was hanging my laundry: "of course, the high heels!". I don't wear high heels often, we can say I never wear them.

It turns out wearing high heels is not only super dangerous for back and feet, but also helps you build a better butt and thigh muscle tone. Ah, the unexpected gifts of Sunday clean-ups.
