Tramways and risk aversion

For a moment or more I thought tonight I would be writing about the amazement people feel when watching the Caen new tramway pass by. The [caen tramway] search on YouTube was indeed a lucky find and quite amusing as so many people felt the need to film this wonder of transportation technology. Once home I instead changed my mind and decided to write about risk aversion.

If you ever got near Economics studies you'd know what the term stands for:
Risk aversion is the reluctance of a person to accept a bargain with an uncertain payoff rather than another bargain with a more certain, but possibly lower, expected payoff.

Economically speaking I  always considered myself to be a risk seeking rather than risk-averse. I see the potential in certain investments and I don't accept getting less interest on the money I invest and lend if a better opportunity is available, even at a higher risk of loss. Although confident with the economic concept of risk aversion I bluntly realized I am not a risk seeking person in real life. I am an awful risk averse! I carefully weight all the possibilities and rarely act without considering consequences. The advantages are clear, but the drawbacks are foggy: lack of risk tolerance in several additional aspects of life can lead to very important opportunities being missed. The key in life is therefore not to be careless or too careful, but to identify the natural preference and balance it when needed. The goal is to find a right balance between risk aversion and risk seeking attitude in each aspect of life, economic, work, love so we can see clearly the potential gains and take action when necessary.
